With “Bronson” and “Valhalla Rising,” Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn established himself as an uncompromising architect of esoteric European cinema, creating two taxing features of poetic structure, brutal violence, and dreamscape storytelling. “Drive” motors the filmmaker over to Hollywood, transferring his persnickety tastes to a heist-gone-bad tale of mobsters and loners and the cars they salivate over.
